Not Drawing Mohammed

It’s Everybody Draw Mohammed Day again. The whole idea is to celebrate freedom of expression and oppose those who threaten violence against anyone people who create a likeness of the prophet Mohammed.

This year I’m not participating, because the idea that I had just doesn’t work. It wasn’t interesting, original or clever, and in this case I believe that it isn’t worth doing if you can’t do it properly. (And yes, I know that last years’ contribution looks like it was thrown together in less then five minutes. It was. But that one does work.)

So this time, I’ll leave it at this: the Jewish dietary laws only apply to Jews. The laws of the bible are completely irrelevant to those who do not believe that the bible is the word of god and must obeyed. Likewise, if you’re not a muslim, the restrictions set forth in the Quran don’t apply to you. Which is a nice way of saying that it’s totally cool to believe that some book is magic and it tells you how to live your life and what you can eat and what you can’t draw, as long as you don’t fuckin’ bother anyone else with it.
