Upon reflection, “things I did not know before” does not seem to be a fitting title for my category for semi-interesting links. At the time it did, but well, what do I know? Here’s some links.
- How to keep your metal band shirt blacker than black: Heavy Metal Laundry Tips
- Two out of Three Ain’t Bad has never been my favorite Meat Loaf song. DJ Lobsterdust used it in a Meat Loaf vs. Morcheeba mash-up, resulting in totally the best version ever.
- Apparently, the Amish aren’t exactly totally against technology.
- When I scrapped a post similar to this one a few weeks ago, I was so going to link to Open Source Food for being a great site for recipes. It looks like Epicurious might be worth checking out too.
- Can’t think of a clever description.
- It rarely happens, but when it does, it’s just too cute.
- The Big Picture has a photo of La Paz which totally matches my vision of Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness. Only with less people and more ice, of course.
- Likewise, the conceptual art for Alien III is stunning. (This movie was never made, and should not be confused with Alien³.)
- Not that I’ve seen more than five minutes of The Sopranos, but this 27 minute clip of every swear word in every episode is pretty intriguing.
- Mark my words: if I ever have a room that requires a pool table, I know the one I want.
- If you’re supportive of the various bus campaigns, you might want to fine tune your slogan.
- Charles Darwin and the Tree of Life is a nice, short video narrated by Sir David Attenborough that flies through millions of years of evolution. Related: Attenborough on Darwin.
- Last year, I saw a play based on Bas Haring’s book Kaas & de evolutietheorie (which I’ll get back to as soon as I’ve finished it). He’s written a clear article on some common misunderstanding of evolution: Darwin: gemakkelijk mis te verstaan. Dutch ony, I’m afraid.
