This post was planned for sunday, but when I got home I didn’t feel like it. So now you get it on a tuesday, in a renamed category. Here’s some stuff I found interesting and/or fascinating in the last two weeks.

  • While I enjoy a good view like the next guy, there’s no way I’m gonna drag my ass up to this tea house in China.
  • Food’s good. Unless when it isn’t.
  • “Tearful Atlanta Cops Express Remorse for Shooting 92-Year-Old Kathryn Johnston, Leaving Her To Bleed to Death in Her Own Home While They Planted Drugs in Her Basement, Then Threatening an Informant So He Would Lie To Cover It All Up.” Headline of the year.
  • An 18 second video pun. (so far, all via Boing Boing)
  • Running from the Camera. The rules are simple: put the self-timer on 2 seconds, push the button and try to get as far from the camera as you can.
  • Remember that iconic Obama poster? Well, I guess the next step was inevitable. (these two via Cynical C)
  • Sir Thomas Browne’s Pseudodoxia Epidemica is available online. It’s a vast 17th century book that refutes common errors and superstitions from that era. (Kottke)
  • My ethics are 0% in line with biblical morality. How ’bout you? (via Pharyngula)
  • As said in my end of year summary, I’m working on a “100 things to do before I die” list. I still need about ten items, but I can already reveal one: spend a night under the stars in the Sahara. After seeing this photo from Hawaii, I might need to change that to ‘spend a night under the sky in an area devoid of light pollution.’
  • All I’m sayin’: give peace a chance.
  • Tweetcoding: creating a Flash-thingy in 140 characters or less. See some examples.
  • Two weeks ago, I linked to a photo that reminded me of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness. This headline struck me in a similar way: Antarctica’s impossible peaks come into view. Ever since I’ve read Lovecraft I’m starting to see references everywhere.

And finally, a song from the a balladeer gig mentioned below:
