- Sir Thomas Browne’s Pseudodoxia Epidemica is available online. It’s a vast 17th century book that refutes common errors and superstitions from that era. (Kottke)

- As said in my end of year summary, I’m working on a “100 things to do before I die” list. I still need about ten items, but I can already reveal one: spend a night under the stars in the Sahara. After seeing this photo from Hawaii, I might need to change that to ‘spend a night under the sky in an area devoid of light pollution.’

- Two weeks ago, I linked to a photo that reminded me of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness. This headline struck me in a similar way: Antarctica’s impossible peaks come into view. Ever since I’ve read Lovecraft I’m starting to see references everywhere.
