We’re about halfway through 2009, and I’ve added 52 albums to my collection. That’s not counting free (and legal) downloads, singles, EPs and vinyl (which I can’t play anyway since I’m still waiting for my pick-up to return). Of those 52 albums, 17 were released this year, and my top five from those goes a little something like this:
- Daniël Lohues – Allennig III
- Delain – April Rain
- Bruce Springsteen – Working on a Dream
- Jenny Owen Youngs – Transmitter Failure
- Heaven & Hell – The Devil You Know
The other albums date from 1965 (Ev’rything’s Coming Up Dusty) to last year’s number two on my list of older albums I acquired this year:
- Carole King – The Carnegie Hall Concert
- Roosbeef – Ze willen wel je hond aaien maar niet met je praten
- Porcupine Tree – Deadwing
- Grof Geschut – Twaalf
- Jacques Brel – Infiniment
Then, finally, to round things up, my ten favorite new (as in new to me) songs of the year so far.
- Daniël Lohues – Geleuf allen’ nog in de maone

[download] - Grof Geschut – Laat maar
- Delain – Control the Storm
- Bløf – Vandaag
- Roosbeef – Onder invloed
- Tinted Windows – Kind of a Girl
- Jenny Owen Youngs – Last Person

- Charlie Dée – A Case of You (Joni Mitchell cover)
