While most people will know Brigitte Kaandorp as a comedian, she sure can sing. So when she announced that she would be touring with a show that focused on her songs, I made sure to snatch a ticket.
Accompanied by Bernd van den Bos on piano, Kaandorp played a string of songs including ‘Jong en mooi’, ‘Kermis’, ‘Ik ben een eiland’, ‘Ik ben een vakvrouw’, ‘Andries Knevel’, ‘Lente’, ‘Ik heb een heel zwaar leven’, ‘Leven zonder angst’, ‘Heus wel weer goed’, as well as a new song about wanting to make a big dramatic scene, like Portuguese women do, and an Annie MG Schmidt cover, ‘Het is over.’ Just about everything I hoped to hear, and then some. In between the songs there was the usual Kaandorpian banter, and here’s me hoping a recording of this whole thing will become available.
