30 Day Song Challenge #1

Day 1: A song you like with a color in the title.

Empyrium — The Blue Mists of Night

Way back in 1997, I sought out an album from a band I hadn’t heard of, in a style I didn’t know, purely based on a review I read in the Dutch metal magazine Aardschok. After a short, folky, piano-based intro “The Blue Mists of Night” bursts out of the speakers with an ominous whispered “…and many a moon shall rise,” shortly followed by the first black metal-ish ‘singing’ I ever heard. The album Songs of Moors and Misty Fields is an ode to melancholy and Nature, and a led me to bands like Opeth.
